Important Milestones at Two Months

Social and Emotional

  • Begins to smile at people
  • Tries to look at parent
  • Can briefly calm him/herself


  • Pays attention to faces
  • Begins to act bored if activity doesn't change (cries, becomes fussy)
  • Begins to follow things with eyes and recognize people at a distance


  • Coos and makes gurgling sounds
  • Turns head toward sounds

Movement/Physical Development

  • Can hold up head and begins to push up when lying on tummy
  • Makes smoother movements with arms and legs
