Sally, a grandmother of two-Ella age 10 and David 3 years old-called Cope in crisis when her 37 year old daughter passed away suddenly from a massive brain hemorrhage. She was stressed and confused and really needed some help. Sally has worked at a local business for the past 34 years, but had exhausted all of her vacation time and savings this past year when her house burned down. She was looking for assistance on how to care for her grieving grandchildren and get the monetary support she needed, now that she was in the unexpected position of raising her grandchildren. Through Cope’s Emergency Aid services, our staff is helping Sally access the appropriate resources for child care, therapy for the children, legal guardianship, WIC, Social Security, Housing Vouchers, summer camp for the children and utility assistance.
