How to Become a Volunteer

We welcome volunteers 16 years old and up to participate in meaningful projects and programs that further our mission and make use of your talents. To volunteer, first you must fill out a volunteer application and submit to Cope via mail (707 Randolph Street, Napa, CA 94559) or by email.
Below you will find a full listing of our regular volunteer opportunities. If you don't see a position that quite fits your interests, please still fill out an application! New projects often come up that allow for specialized volunteer opportunities that are adapted to fit your individual interests and skills. 

Events Volunteer Opportunities

Blue Ribbon Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and each year volunteers are needed to help organize and plan many community outreach events, our Annual Blue Ribbon Lunch and our "Blue Ribbons for the Fence" Campaign.

Holiday Glam & Giving

Volunteers needed for our Annual Holiday Glam & Giving Event both in preparation for and on the day of the event, Saturday, December 5, 2015. The event will be at The Meritage Resort and Spa and will include a Holiday Tree Raffle, Silent and Live Auction.

Family Holiday Party

Help ring in the holiday season by volunteering at Cope's annual celebration for the families we serve. Volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up and staff the party. Activities include cookie decorating, ornament making, gift basket raffle and photos with Santa. Held on a Saturday in early December. Interested in getting more involved? Volunteer to be a planning co-chair!

On-Going Service Opportunities

Childcare Provider

Help make our center-based educational and support groups more accessible for parents by providing childcare in our center playroom. This is a program we are enriching and we need experienced moms,dads, big siblings and interested folks to help. Those interested in volunteering for childcare will need to sign a release form and pass a background check. Training will be provided. 

Development Assistant

Manage donor and volunteer acknowledgment. Assist Development Team with annual solicitations. Assist with donor correspondence by making follow-up calls to donors and sponsors. Maintain information center and oversee material distribution. Commitment of at least 6 months, 2 hours per week minimum. Qualifications: Clerical and administrative experience. Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher and donor management software. Experience in event planning and staffing. 

Community Organizer

Assist in mobilizing resources in the community to help Cope Family Center achieve its mission, through the recruitment and retention of skilled volunteers and promote advocacy for positive social change. Length: 3 months minimum. Time commitment: About 3 hours per week. Qualifications: Attention to detail, friendly and easy-going demeanor in person and over the phone, comfortable speaking with people both individually and in groups, strong administrative and organizational skills. Experience working with volunteers, human resources or community organizing/outreach desired.


Perfect for those who like to meet and greet! Help us reach more families through on-the-ground outreach, including flyering, building relationships with community partners and attending outreach events. Excellent interpersonal skills desired.

Social Media Coordinator

Help plan and implement our social media strategy. Post to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our blog, and coordinate staff/volunteer participation. Strong interpersonal and writing skills desired. Experience with marketing and project management a plus.


Shoot and edit videos for use on social media platforms. Experience shooting (even with a flip cam!) and editing video files necessary.
