HOME VISITATION - NEW Fatherhood Services Provided!
Cope's Home Visitation program provides families with an intensive support system and links to Napa's community of resources. Families that participate in our Home Visitation Program come from all walks of life, from the single teenage mother who needs help raising her newborn daughter to the working family raising children with behavioral issues that are resulting in the children's suspension from school.
Fatherhood Services Enhancement: Rafael Ortiz joined the agency in July 2011 as a Home Visitor. He will be working specifically with fathers in this program, supporting them to develop their parenting skills and contribute to their families' improved health and well-being. Rafael will be using the '24/7 Dad' curriculum through one-on-one meetings with fathers, as well as in the support groups planned for the fall. The entire home visitation staff has been trained and will be utilizing the "Mothers as Gatekeepers" with families to strengthen the father's role in raising their children. As we begin to engage fathers through these services, we look forward to offering additional activities for fathers, based on their feedback on how they would like to be supported in raising their children.
Each family meets first with one of Cope's Registered Nurses for an evaluation of the family's strengths and needs, after which the family is assigned a Home Visitor. Together with their Home Visitors, parent(s) create an individualized service plan that enables the family to take an active role in setting goals and identifying objectives. The strengths and positive attributes of each family are respected, acknowledged and encouraged. Support activities for our Home Visitation families include:
