there may or may not be an opening in the positions listed below...


ON-CALL SUPPORT TEAM:
Join our Healthy Families Task Force! Believe in our mission but not ready for a long-term commitment? Get on our list of everyday heroes and receive occasional emails/calls when we're short on help for a done-in-a-day project, event, or childcare. Those interested in volunteering for childcare will need to sign a release form and pass a background check. Fill out this form to sign up and Aimee, our Community Engagement Manager, will follow up.



EVENTS:
Kids' Day
A fun and educational event for the whole family. At this street fair right in front of Cope's office, kids enjoy a multitude of activities, from bounce houses to a rock climbing wall, and parents can relax and learn more about community resources. Held on a Saturday during Blue Ribbon Month, April.

Napa River Rock & Stroll 6K Family Fun Run
Volunteers needed for Napa River Rock & Stroll both in preparation for and on day of event, Saturday, September 22, 2012. Event starts at Kennedy Park and ends at Veterans Memorial Park. Suitable for groups, senior & teen volunteers. Learn more and sign up!

Family Holiday Party
Help ring in the holiday season by volunteering at Cope's annual celebration for the families we serve. Volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up, and staff the party. Activities include cookie decorating, ornament making, gift basket raffle and photos with Santa. Saturday December 10th from 9:30am-12:30pm. Interested in getting more deeply involved? Volunteer to be a planning co-chair!



SEASONAL:
(January-April): Tax Preparers, Tax Return Transmitter, Tax Clinic Screener/Greeter
Volunteer staffers needed for the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) clinics taking place from January-April. No experience needed, training required.

(September-June): Child Assault Prevention Program Workshop Presenter
Provide elementary school children tips, tools and strategies for handling a bully confrontation, preventing stranger abductions and safe and unsafe touches from relatives or strangers. Schedule workshops, memorize script, present to children in an age appropriate format. Qualifications: Ability to speak & interact with up to 30 children. Mandated Child Abuse Reporter training--provided free of charge. Availability during the school day. Must sign a release for a background check.

(April-November): Financial Management Training Instructor
Volunteers with a background in banking or finance are needed to teach Financial Management classes. We need English speakers, bilingual or monolingual Spanish speakers to help local hardworking families gain money management skills. Volunteer for two hours, no experience required!

(April-November): Financial Wellness Coach/Mentor
Assist participants in creating financial goals for their families based on their values.  This is a flexible program still in the pilot phase, so commitment time may vary. We are anticipating a commitment of three to six months. Minimum of 2 hours per month. Qualifications: Excellent communication skills with individuals and small groups. Knowledge of basic financial systems. Basic computer skills. Bilingual skills a plus.

(April-November): Family Economic Success (FES) Assistant
Assist in general FES programming, help families access financial help through online applications, help with back-taxes. Excellent administrative and customer service skills desired. Experience volunteering in our VITA tax clinic a plus.

ONGOING:
Development Assistant
Manage donor and volunteer acknowledgment. Assist Development Team with annual solicitations. Assist with donor correspondence by making follow up calls to donors and sponsors. Maintain information center and oversee material distribution as outlined in the Outreach Plan. Commitment of at least 6 months, 2 hours per week minimum. Qualifications: Clerical and administrative experience. Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher and donor management software. Experience in event planning and staffing.

Bookkeeping Assistant
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Filing of accounting materials, Prepare mailings, Assist Office Systems Coordinator as needed. Qualifications: Ability to read, write and understand basic bookkeeping and arithmetic principles. Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills. Two to three years accounting experience beneficial. Working knowledge of Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel is favorable.

Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) Assistant
Coordinate and promote CAPC programming including parenting classes, events, and trainings. Strong administrative and inter-personal skills desired, event planning experience a plus.

Drop-In Crisis Aid Worker
Individuals experienced in social work/crisis counseling desired to be on-call to support our drop-in crisis program. Knowledge of the community and excellent listening skills required.

Community Organizer
Assist in mobilizing resources in the community to help Cope Family Center achieve its mission, through the recruitment and retention of skilled volunteers and promote advocacy for positive social change. Length: 3 months minimum. Time commitment: About 3 hours per week. Qualifications: Attention to detail, friendly and easy-going demeanor in person and over the phone, comfortable speaking with people both individually and in groups, strong administrative and organizational skills. Experience working with volunteers, human resources, or community organizing/outreach desired.

Outreach
Help us reach more families through on-the-ground outreach, including flyering, building relationships with community partners. Excellent inter-personal skills desired.

Social Media Coordinator
Help plan and implement our social media strategy. Post to Facebook, twitter, and our blog and coordinate staff/volunteer participation. Strong inter-personal and writing skills desired. Experience with marketing and project management a plus.

Videographer
Shoot and edit videos for use on social media platforms. Experience shooting (even with a flip cam!) and editing video files necessary.

Open Garden Days
Help our sustainable garden thrive! We have raised beds for vegetable planting, a demo garden for water wise plants, a bee and butterfly garden, and an ongoing schedule of workshops to educate and involve the community. Join us for our monthly maintenance days, supervised by a Master Gardener. 

SomosNapa.org Volunteer
Passionate about community-building across cultural and language barriers? We are the fiscal agent for SomosNapa.org, a project to build a base of peer-to-peer community knowledge & support that is inclusive and accessible to all. There are a variety of opportunities with this project, from posting content to translation to technical support.


COMMITTEES:
Public Relations
The PR Committee has openings for individuals interested in promoting Cope Family center's programs and services in the community. Marketing and PR professionals encouraged to apply. For FY 2011/2012, there will be lots of exciting work around our 40th anniversary!

Development
The Development Committee helps to ensure that Cope Family Center has sufficient funds to provide our family support services to Napa Valley. If you like to network or ask for investments, we have a spot for you.

Napa River Rock & Stroll Planning Committees
Individuals with event planning experience highly desired for Logistics, Registration, Road Crew, Parking, Finish Line, Expo for our 6k fun run in September.

Wage & Compensation Ad-hoc Committee FY 2011-2012
HR professionals encouraged to join our ad-hoc committee as we explore changes to staff compensation and benefits.
