Cope's April 2021 Special Edition Newsletter: Blue Ribbon Month

Dear Valued Supporters,

Every April, we commemorate Child Abuse Prevention Month by raising awareness about this important issue and funds to strengthen families and protect children in our community. Despite the ongoing pandemic restrictions, we have many opportunities for community members to get involved this year. Below, you'll read about:

  • Walk With Me, our walk-a-thon to prevent child abuse

  • Paint the Town Blue, a collaboration with local businesses to raise awareness and funds for child abuse prevention

  • Blue Ribbon Instagram Scavenger Hunt where you can use your Instagram to do good

  • Tree of Life community art display about community resilience

  • And where to find news and resources all month long!

We all have a role in protecting children in our community. You can keep kids safe by participating in any of these activities, spreading the word or even making a donation to support prevention programs.

Together we can build a strong and resilient community for our children!

In Community,
Michele Grupe

Walk With Me: A Walk-A-Thon to Prevent Child Abuse

We're asking community members to join Walk With Me to Prevent Child Abuse. Anyone can join the campaign by registering and pledging to walk (hike, run, bike, etc.) at least 40 miles in April in honor of the estimated average of 40 victims of child abuse or neglect every month last year. Participants also pledge to raise funds for Cope's family support and child abuse prevention services. Registration is open now. Sign up today to start your journey!

Local businesses are once again taking a stand to prevent child abuse by going blue in April. You can Go Blue too by shopping, dining and sipping at these businesses. See a list of Blue Ribbon Businesses and choose which dine/shop/sip and donates or fundraising events you want to attend this month!

Community Tree of Life Art Installation

We’ve partnered with Nimbus Arts for a community art project to raise awareness and build connections. Kids need strong families to grow and thrive safely, and families need supportive communities to lean on when tough times come. We can all play a role in building a strong and resilient community for Napa Valley's families and children. After a traumatic year of stress, isolation, fear and loss, this project will provide important social connections through art to inspire hope and healing throughout our community.

The installations go up on April 5th so be sure to stop by the District Attorney's window display in downtown Napa, and the St. Helena will be announced shortly. These are also stops on the Instagram Scavenger Hunt!

Be sure to visit our Blue Ribbon Month webpage to learn more about these opportunities and find other ways to get involved!

If you'd like to strengthen families and protect children, please consider making a donation of any amount today.
